Indonesia Minta Anggota Negara Asean Bantu Lindungi Rakyat Di Mesir

JAKARTA, 3 Feb (Bernama) -- Indonesia meminta negara anggota ASEAN supaya saling memberi kemudahan dan bantuan dalam melindungi keselamatan rakyat serantau itu yang terperangkap dalam pergolakan di Mesir.
Menteri Luarnya Marty Natalegawa berkata semua negara anggota ASEAN perlu mengadakan koordinasi dalam memantau keadaan di Mesir serta mengambil tindakan memindahkan rakyat masing-masing dari negara itu.
Indonesia merupakan Pengerusi ASEAN.
"Indonesia dengan Thailand dan Malaysia saling bekerjasama dalam mengatasi masalah seperti itu berlandaskan perjanjian 2006 di mana semua negara anggota komited untuk saling membantu dalam situasi darurat," katanya pada sidang akhbar di sini Khamis.
Katanya sejak dua hari lalu beliau telah berkomunikasi dengan Kementerian Luar Malaysia dan Thailand yang mempunyai pejabat perwakilan mereka di Mesir bagi mendapatkan maklumat mengenai langkah-langkah penting bagi melindungi warga negara mereka di sana.
"Kami yakin, negara ASEAN yang lain juga saling memahami untuk membantu mengikut kemampuan masing-masing. Perlu ada perpaduan," katanya.

Marty Asks Asean Nation To Cooperate In Egypt
JAKARTA, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Indonesia is calling for cooperation among Asean countries to protect their citizens in Egypt.
Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said Thursday that Asean nations could help one another monitor the unrest in Egypt and in moving their students and other citizens to safety.
Concerned with the situation where demonstrators in the thousands are demanding that President Hosni Mubarak step down, he said: "We are coordinating efforts with Asean countries like Thailand and Malaysia to overcome problems ..in accordance with our 2006 agreement for member nations to help one another in emergency situations."
"We are committed to helping one another and aiding any member needing it," he told reporters here.
Marty said he had been in contact with the foreign ministries of Malaysia and Thailand, the two other Asean with missions in Egypt, to exchange information and discuss steps to safeguard their citizens.
"We are confident that the other Asean countries understand the need to help out to the best of their ability. There has to be solidarity," he said.
